Speculative Tools

About the project

Jugaad (2045) imagines a rural dyeing society that emerges in resistance to industrial pollution. Set in a future where rivers are once again sacred and chemical dyes are abandoned, the project speculates how everyday domestic objects could be repurposed into community-led dyeing tools. Rooted in farming, tourism, and shared knowledge systems, this alternative economy explores distributed roles, co-teaching, and low-impact material practices. Through object design, the project rethinks dyeing as a collective, regenerative act where water is worshipped, waste is revalued, and making becomes an act of environmental revolt.
